Sprucing Up A Komondor

A Komondor is a giant dog; it is unique and very different from the usual dog you know. It is muscular, powerful. It wears its coat with a design of string maps. Maintenance of the coat is high because it is a double coated and covers the head and the whole body. The Komondor is naturally white. It weighs eighty (80) to one hundred thirty (130) pounds. It can grow as high as twenty five (25) to thirty (30) inches.

Sprucing up a Komondor needs an eye for the details because of its corded coat. It needs time and dedication. You need to separate the coats in intervals of several weeks. You need to have it trimmed and clipped; otherwise, it can grow very long reaching the ground by the time your Komondor reaches the age of six. Bathing is also needed, but it can be laborious and time consuming.

You have to make it sure, the coat cords are cleaned and shampooed. It will take almost the whole day drying a Komondor and it can take the whole twenty four hours to forty eight hours drying this dog.

This dog needs regular cleaning, because it can get lots of dirt, leaves, twigs, and debris out doors. This breed is a low shedder and allergy sufferers may own a Komondor.

Health, Lifespan And Lineage

This dog is a breed with few health issues like low metabolism, sensitivity to chemicals and drugs, cataracts, entropion, HD, and bloat. The parents of this puppy have CERF and OFA certificates always. The life expectancy of this breed is at the maximum of twelve (12) years.

The Komondor hails from Hungary. It has been in the annals of history how this dog is an excellent guard dog for sheep. This dog was registered in the year 1937 with the AKC.
