The Japanese Chin needs a fence and secure place to play; it does not need to run much in the neighborhood, a real dog time saver. This dog can also stay and live in an apartment or houses.

Sprucing Up A Japanese Chin

It’s a delight to spruce up this little dog. It is cute and small and has a sweet face. Its built is compact and wears its coat soft, long, straight, and thick. The color is usually white or black. The coat has some shades of white and red depending on the type of coat. It has silky, long ears and its face, with a short muzzle. The tail of the Japanese Chins is feathered, beautiful plume. These dogs can grow as much as eight (8) to eleven (11) inches; it can also weigh seven (7) pounds at the maximum.

A Japanese Chin wears its silky coat elegantly and it needs regular maintenance of twice a week brushing. This is to keep it in tip top condition and brushing can be more than twice whenever necessary.

This dog sheds daily, and it also has heavy season shedding. This dog is not for people who suffer from allergy. Its hair needs to be trimmed regularly and the bottom has to be cleaned to avoid the onset of infectious diseases whenever necessary.

Health, Lifespan And Lineage

The life of a Japanese Chin can live at a minimum of twelve (12) to fourteen (14) years. It has a number of health issues typical of its breed. It can have the following ailments: PRA, cataracts, seizures, luxating patella, respiratory problems due to its short muzzle, susceptibility to heat stroke and sensitivity to chemicals and drugs.

This dog comes from Japan; it is known to be the chosen companion of the emperor and his family. It is also known as the dog for the aristocracy for its country. The Japanese Chin was officially registered in 1888 with the AKC.
