Field Spaniels are dogs which are characteristically “medium sized.” It is carries an eager, intelligent expression. It wears it coat glossy, flat, and long with a silky feel. Its long ears hang on each side of its head, perfectly framing its face. The color of its coat varies from tan markings, speckled roan, black, and liver. The weight of Field Spaniels are generally as much as 35 (thirty five) to 50 (fifty) pounds. It can grow as much as seventeen (17) inches for female dogs, and for male Field Spaniels it can grow as much as eighteen inches (18).

Sprucing Up Field Spaniel

This breed is known to be heavy to medium shedder. This is pet is not advisable for people who suffer allergies. Its grooming needs varies from season to season.

Most times this dog will require combing and brushing at least four times a week. Get rid of straggly hairs and have it trimmed whenever necessary. Its ears have to be cleaned dry, to avoid the onset of infection.

You also have to trim and clip the hair at its bottom for the purpose of keeping infectious diseases at bay.

Health, Lifespan And Lineage

The life of a Field Spaniel can be as long as ten (10) to twelve (12) years. It has some health problems to face up with like HD, PRA, thyroid, and cataracts. This pet is known to be healthy when well taken cared off. Its parents carry with it CERF and OFA certificates for authentication.

Field Spaniels hails from England. These dogs are naturally bird hunters and can find their hiding places whenever necessary. The bird once shot, the Field Spaniel retrieves it. The breed was finally registered with AKC in the year 1894.
