The female English Toy Spaniel can weigh as much as eight (8) to ten (10) pounds and male English Toy Spaniels can weigh as much as twelve (12) to fifteen (15) pounds. These dogs can grow as much as nine (9) to ten (10) inches. This dog’s size is naturally small, but when fed well, it can have a compact athletic build, but it can look fragile because of it, being small.

Sprucing Up An English Toy Spaniel

Sprucing up an English Toy Spaniel is relatively relaxed. You just have to brush its coat’s hair twice in seven days to make it sure its spic and

span. Combing and brushing prevents its coat hair from tangling. If you prefer to brush it more often when it’s in season for shedding, it’s alright. Make it sure the hair on its bottom is clipped and trimmed for anti infection and other dreadful diseases. Its ear canal has to be checked as well. This dog is known to be a “low shedder” and is considered a good pet for people who suffer from allergies.

Health, Lineage And Lifespan

English Toy Spaniel may live up to ten (10) to twelve (12) years at the maximum. It has several health issues to consider like its sensitiveness to medication and chemicals, allergies, heart problems, hernias, luxating patella and cataracts. It also has short muzzle so it can have respiratory problems as well. This pet can suffer a heat stroke, so its’ good to keep it away from very warm or hot temperatures.

This pet hails from Great Britain. It is known as a pet that snuggles up on the lap of its owner, keeping the people warm in their homes or in carriages. In 1886, it was registered with the AKC in 1886.
