This dog wears its silky, straight, dense coat. Its coloring may vary from orange, liver, blue, and lemon; sometimes it can have tri color markings.

This breed is characterized as a “medium shedder” It is not a pet for people with allergies. There is a need for regular grooming for this pet, like brushing it twice a week and combing its coat hair to prevent coat hair matting.

When it’s the season to shed, you will have to increase your brushing time to four times a week at the minimum. The coat hair located on the feet, tail may need trimming. Ears have to be checked whenever necessary to avoid infectious diseases.

The life expectancy of the English Setter is around 10-12 years, and this is generally a healthy and hardy breed with fewer health problems than many other breeds. The English Setter puppies carry with them a certificate from BAER, and English Setter parents have CERF and OFA certificates for authentication.

The ancestral birthplace of the English Setter is in England. It is known as among the oldest types of setter. This breed is a crossbreed between pointers and Spanish Spaniels. This dog became to be officially known by the year 1878 when it was registered with the AKC.
