This dog can grow ten (10) to thirteen (13) inches in height. It weighs as much as twenty five (25) to forty five (45) pounds. It has sturdy, elongated, short low set legs.
It has an agile and enthusiastic expression. Cardigan Welsh Corgi wears its coat weather proof, with hard textures. Its coat is characterized as medium and short. Its undercoat is denser and shorter than the outer coat. It comes in varying colors like blue merle, sable, fawn, red, black, or brindle commonly with white markings.
Sprucing Up A Cardigan Welsh Corgi
Cardigan Welsh Corgi needs daily grooming when shedding is in season. However, most times you just have to brush it at the most of twice weekly. You need to buy a bristle firm brush to make its coat sleek and shiny. This pet is a naturally “medium shedder.”
This dog needs to have its ears cleaned dry, so as to avoid the onset of ear infection. Apply some dog ear ointment whenever there is a small sign of a beginning of infections. Its eyes are not really a problem, but it’s good to
check regularly. Clipping the hair located on its bottom has to be regular for hygienic purposes.
Health, Lineage And Lifespan
The lifespan of this dog extends to twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years. It inherited a number of health problems typical of its lineage, like obesity, PRA, HD, spinal problems, thyroid problems. The Cardigan Welsh puppy parents’ must bring with them, CERF and OFA certificates for breed authentication.
The dog’s ancestry comes from Wales, England in Cardiganshire. This dog is instinctively herders of cattle and vermin killers. They were bred for the purpose of helping shepherds herd. This pet is the relative of a Dachshund, if you notice it has a low build. Cardigan Welsh Corgi in 1935 was officially listed with the AKC.
