The Brussels griffon may be very possessive and would want to have some respect on its privacy when it comes to its belongings, territory, and food. Brussels Griffon grows as much as 8 to 12 in height and can gain as much as 8 to 12 pounds. This breed has two types; one is a dog which wears its coat rough, and the other wears its coat smooth.
The Brussels Griffon wearing its coat rough coated is harsh and wiry to the feel and looks, while the Brussels Griffon wearing a smooth coated coat wears it close fitting. The coloring of its coat varies, it can be tan, black, or red and some have a combination of white markings. Its eyes are protruding; unfortunately, it can easily get infections. This breed is naturally obedient and carries with it an inquisitive expression.

Brussels Griffon wearing its coat rough needs higher grooming requirement, it needs regular brushing daily, as compared to a smooth coated variety. Its bottom has to be trimmed whenever necessary to avoid infectious diseases. The smooth coated Brussels Griffon needs lesser brushing requirements compared to its wiry counterpart.

Brussels Griffon lifespan is around twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years. The breed has peculiar health issues according to its make up, such as cataracts, heart problems, Legg Perthes, and luxating patella. The parents of a Brussels Griffon puppy have CERF and OFA certificates.
The ancestors of Brussels Griffon hails form Belgium. The breed is a natural hunter inside the stables of vermins. By the year 1880, this breed was introduced in the United States and England. This breed is known and registered with the AKC by 1910.
