Black Russian Terrier
A fun loving, eager, and intelligent dog is one of those pets most people want! There is one, and it’s called the Black Russian Terrier! It loves to go along with people, and it loves to really please its masters and loves to obey at most times. This type of terrier breed can be quite stubborn, but its eagerness and intelligence and play, work and train for fun. Unfortunately, its stubbornness can delay its training. It likes to explore a lot, especially in an unknown area. Loosing this breed in an unsecured area is not advisable at all. This dog can be very domineering at times, and therefore can be difficult to housebreak.
This Black Russian Terrier is large dogs but is fascinated with children! It loves to be with children, but it must be the older ones, as the smaller ones can get easily knocked off during play. These dogs have a great tendency to be dominant especially with other household dogs, but kinder to other pets. Black Russian terriers protect its owners and are known to be good watch dogs. It doesn’t like strangers! These dogs easily learn but it has a childish streak in so far as it is compared to other dogs. These dogs require attention and needs owners who like lavishing attention to its pet.
This dog grows at 26 to 29 inches in height and can weigh as much as 85 to 140 pounds as well. It wears its coat really dense and the skin is wavy. You might be surprised, but the coat of a Black Russian terrier is weatherproof. It wears its coat black, but sometimes have peppered white hairs in its coat. This dog is striking as it has a distinguishing curtain of hair found in its face and eyes. It is also sturdy and robust! It has an expression that is agile and alert.
Sprucing Up A Black Russian Terrier
Grooming is the secret for Black Russian Terriers to avoid shredding heavily. It’s grooming requirements are manageable as long as it is regularly brushed to keep its coat in proper condition. The coat however can be trimmed every eight weeks at the maximum, because it is dense. This dog is a good pet for those people who are suffering from allergies.
Black Russian Terriers needs a scheduled brushing. Bathing is necessary when needed. This dog also needs have their hair clipped whenever necessary, and its eyes and ears cleaned dry to avoid the onset of infection. Their coats are “grooming in the average” as it does not require extensive daily maintenance.
LIFE, HEALTH and LINEAGE
When a Black Russian terrier reaches it 10th to 12 th year, it can have a number of health problems and disorders, very much linked to its kind. Like for example allergies, hip problems, elbow dysplasia, HD, and PRA! Black Russian Terrier puppies have their parents carrying a CERF or OFA certificates for authentication. These dogs to avoid disorder and diseases must start its lifestyle healthy. Therefore, it’s good to bring it around for a daily exercise. This breed has a history of hip problems and all sorts of allergies, it is best never to feed it with any food related to crustaceans, like crabs and shrimps or it can loose its hair.
History
Black Russian Terrier’s ancestors hail from Russia. Their breed is developed during the Second World War as dogs assisting the Allied forces. This breed is registered under the “miscellaneous group” last 2001 at AKC.
