Sprucing Up An American Staffordshire Terrier
This dog breed can grow from 17 to 19 inches long. It can weight from 40 to 75 pounds. The coat of an American Staffordshire Terrier is short, smooth, and short coat. It’s manageable to maintain it and the colors differs from white, red, brindle, fawn to blue patches of any color. It has wears an alert expression, with a compact builds, robust and athletic. It has an uncanny way of making its ears unstopped or cropped, and naturally having it folded on its head!
How to maintain an American Staffordshire Terrier’s as it sheds its hair heavily? It has to receive a regular brushing to make its coat sleek and short, and it can be rubbing down by a damp cloth, really looking glossy and clean. Dry shampooing and bathing can be done when there is a necessity.
Health
An American Staffordshire Terrier can live as long as 10 to 12 years. Its health problems are unique to its breed like ligament, eye problems, cataracts, cancer, and thyroid disorders! An American Staffordshire Puppy usually carries a CERF and OFA certificates. It is also good to have your dog tested on its behavior stability test, because it can really have a strong temperament, requiring an experienced dog owner.
History
This breed is especially developed in the United States. It is a breed from terriers and bulldogs. It was known as an American Pit Bull Terrier, but later, it was known it was called as the American Staffordshire Terrier and was registered in 1936 with AKC.
