Sprucing Up A Rottweiler

Generally, Rottweiler is big in size, healthy muscular built. This dog is considered handsome by dog standards, and has a rugged look; it carries with it a witty expression. It wears its coat coarse in texture, close fitting, and short. The color of its coat is usually tan, mahogany, or black. Female Rottweiler can be as heavy as eighty (80) to one hundred (100) pounds, and for male Rottweiler, it can be ninety five (95) to one hundred thirty five (135) pounds. These dogs can grow as much as twenty two (22) to twenty five (25) for female Rottweiler, and for male breed, it can be as long as twenty four (24) to twenty seven (27) inches.

Rottweiler grooming needs are manageable, and to keep its coat in great condition, it needs a weekly brushing. This dog is a “medium shedder,” and it sheds heavily when it is in season for shedding. Rottweiler is not advisable for those who have allergies.

Health, Life And Lineage

Rottweiler lives up to nine (9) to ten (10) years at the maximum, quite short as compared with other dog breeds. It has several health issues to avoid, typical to the breed, they are: allergies, seizures, HD, OCD, cancer, thyroid problems, bloat, eye diseases, heart problems. The parents of a Rottweiler puppy carries with them an CERF and OFA certificates and must have clearance authenticating a healthy heart.

Rottweiler comes from Germany, and instinctively a controller of livestock. These breed are also trained to be police and guard dogs. Its ancestry hails from Rottweil, Germany. In 1931, it was officially registered with the AKC.
