The short haired and long haired varieties shred occasionally and is known as a "medium shredder". These two types are not advisable for people having allergies.

A Dachshund lives from 12 to 15 years and have many health problems typical of its breed. It includes obesity, elbow dysplasia, PRA, luxating patella, spinal problems, epilepsy, diabetes, and cataracts. It is best to look for the CERFand OFA certificates of the parents.
The ancestors of Dachshund come from Germany, it is considered as a hunting breed dog. They are considered as hunt badgers, but in due time because of breeding, they are more suitable for hares and rabbits. They were registered at AKC in the year 1885.
